Editing metadata & SoundRay

Via Edit metadata (a track’s context menu) you open the metadata editor. Here you correct tags, set covers and assign track numbers — for several tracks at once if you wish.

11.1 Fields

Editable fields include title, sort name, grouping, artist, album artist, album, track no. (of N), disc no., composer, genre, year, rating, “part of a compilation” and comments.

11.2 Editing several tracks together

ℹ️ Only changed fields are applied
When editing multiple tracks, only the fields you change take effect on all selected tracks; empty fields stay unchanged. Title, sort name and track no. are per-track and therefore disabled.

11.3 Track number assistant

The Track number assistant numbers a whole selection automatically: start value, leading zeros (01, 02 …), total count “of N”, new disc on folder/album change and resetting the track number per disc.

11.4 Cover and writing back to the file

Via Choose cover you set a new cover image. With Also write changes to the file the tags are additionally written to the file — existing special tags (e.g. ReplayGain) are kept. Supported formats: FLAC, MP3, M4A, AIFF and WMA.

⚠️ The file is modified
Writing back changes your audio files. Make a backup first. For formats without a file writer, changes take effect only in the app.

11.5 SoundRay analysis

SoundRay analysis (also in the context menu) measures a track’s real frequency response and contrasts the declared with the actually measured bandwidth. This way you see whether a file delivers what its format promises.
