Getting started

MuSéa needs no installation in the classic sense: copy the program folder to a location of your choice, run Musea.exe — done. On the very first start the program takes you through two short steps: the disclaimer and, if no licence is present yet, the demo mode.

1.1 Starting the program

After you double-click the program icon, the main window appears with the sidebar on the left. If the library is still empty, a notice „Your library is empty“ greets you with the Add music button — the direct route into the settings (see chapter 3).

1.2 Disclaimer on first start

On the first start MuSéa shows the disclaimer and terms of use. They have to be confirmed once.

Read the text and scroll to the end — only then can the consent box be enabled (note: “Please scroll through the entire text to the end…”).
Tick the box “I have read the disclaimer and accept the terms.”
Click ✓ Accept and continue.

ℹ️ Why a disclaimer?

On your explicit request, MuSéa can write metadata into audio files. That is a data-changing process; the text explains the risks and the urgent recommendation to back up your data. If you decline, the program exits.

1.3 Trial, demo mode and licence

Without a valid licence, MuSéa starts in demo mode (evaluation). The main functions are usable, but with limits. The demo dialog shows the hardware ID of this PC — it is needed when buying a licence, because the licence is bound to the machine.

Your options in the demo dialog:

Continue in demo mode — carry on with the limits
Activate / Reactivate — install a licence (see chapter 12)
Exit — close the program

The main limits at a glance:

Area	Limit in trial/demo mode
Playback (evaluation)	10-second preview per track — then switch to the next track
Saving metadata	Saving is disabled in demo; preview and editing remain usable
Library	Import and browsing are available to try out

Copy your licence file Musea.v3lic into the program directory and restart MuSéa — or use Activate / Reactivate. Everything about activation and transfer to a new PC is in chapter 12.
